In ever-expanding internet marketing world there are many ways to advertise you business, website or service. You can do it either the free way or the paid way. For those who start without any significant budget paid options are out of the question. That was precisely the first mistake of my internet marketing journey. I wasted hundreds of dollars on PPC campaigns not getting any results. It may be easier for a starter to get used to free techniques first. At least you can make mistakes. Ok, I’ve strayed from the subject a bit. I wanted to present you another great way to advertise your online business without harming your budget or reputation.
Viral Marketing techniques
You’ve probably heard of the term “viral marketing”. It is a sub-category of Internet marketing, where advertisers use the social networking sites as a medium to advertise their online business. They write a free eBook on a specific topic and then submit it to the sites. Visitors can then download the ebook. Now you are probably asking yourself, why not write an eBook and then sell it? Well there is a catch and not many marketers are aware of it. Studies have shown that there is a much higher chance of succeeding online if you pass your information for free. Firstly you will build trust with the readers, because they will see that you are not trying to sell stuff in the very beginning. Secondly, if you give out things for free you will attract more people than usual selling. It’s normal that you want things for free right
Think about it, what would you do if you saw a free eBook somewhere on the web?
Would you resist the temptation of downloading it? Hey it’s free right, you have nothing to lose?
You see where I’m going with this. This is precisely where the power of viral marketing lies. Free information is always good. It doesn’t even have to be that good. As long as you are giving away free info there is no need to be afraid of losing a costumer. Then a questions pops into your mind, “how will I profit from this?” The profit is in the backlinks! When you write your eBook content you will also be putting occasional links here and there, nothing much. Just a few not too many. You don’t want to spam, readers get repelled by it rather fast. When they click on one of your links, they will be redirected to your landing page.
Where to start practicing viral marketing?
Once you finished writing your ebook, there are few ways to advertise it.
- Submit it to social networking sites like WealthyAffiliation.com or Sribd.com
- Offer your eBook to your website visitors through opt-in
- make a separate landing page just for your report and give it away for free
- you could also give it away to similar sites like yours for them to publish it for you, many web masters will accept that offer.
Once you get it online all you have to do is wait for people to pick your free eBook up. It may take a while to get it running, but you won’t regret it later. With time it will start to spread like a virus, hence the word viral marketing.viral marketing definition
